The Art Institute of Chicago
Under the supervision of the 5-member development team, you will learn about the Art Institute of Chicago’s integrated program for institutional support through partnerships with corporations, foundations, government agencies, and universities. The intern will assist the institutional relations team with prospect research and management, special event planning, writing communications, and more. This position may come into contact with confidential information, so a high degree of discretion and integrity is required. This internship will expose you to the inner workings of the museum and help you to understand how different departments function in order to provide more than 1.7 million annual visitors with quality art and culture experiences.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assisting the team with gift processing and acknowledgement procedures
Writing and editing letters, sponsorship reports, and event literature
Researching institutional funding prospects
Helping to plan and execute special events
Coordinating experiences for external partners
Providing general administrative support in the day-to-day functions of the department
Undergraduate or graduate student interested in a nonprofit arts organization with proficiency in the Microsoft Suite, experience working in an office setting, and strong writing and communications skills. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge database is a plus.
