The job assists in the design and implementation of advisory programs focused on students’ career developments.

1) Advises and counsels students concerning employment opportunities and careers by acting as a liaison between students and prospective employers., 2) Conducts mock interviews, reviews resumes and cover letters, and coordinates other interview related programming in both individual and group settings., 3) Develops original content for career related publications and assists with the editing and distribution of Career Services communications materials., 4) Provides guidance and training to student career counselor interns., 5) Performs other related work as needed.

Unit-specific Responsibilities

1) The Student Internship Coordinator will collaborate with team members in the Department of Enrollment and Student Advancement and additional campus partners to prepare students for jobs and internships. The position will contribute to the recruitment and hiring process for ESA student employees, provide one-on-one career advising for undergraduate students, and participate in the development and execution of career-related programming and experiential activities. This position reports to the Assistant Director, Student Employment.

2) Assist Enrollment and Student Advancement colleagues with the recruiting and onboarding process for student employees in the Offices of Admissions, Career Advancement, and College Aid, including positions such as Student Tour Guides, Admissions Ambassadors, and Student Operations Assistants.

3) Oversee job posting, interview, and hiring processes for these positions.

4) Process internship data recording, payments, and onboarding as appropriate.

5) Provide support to students and employers throughout their academic year and summer experiences.

6) Ensure student interns are accurately tracking their time into the correct University budget accounts via Workday Time and Absence.

7) Provide high quality career advising to undergraduate students searching for on-campus Student Employment opportunities.

8) This includes providing one-one-one career advising sessions to undergraduates in the various formats such as scheduled appointments, walk-ins, and electronic/virtual support and communication.

9) Maintain regular schedule of one-on-one advising appointments and provide additional advising hours during busiest times of the academic year.

10) Develop metrics for tracking progress against goals and review goals on a bi-monthly basis with internal team and external colleagues.

11) Develop efficient methods to track student data, quantify the success rate of specific workshops, and articulate the value students receive from department services.

12) Ensure that undergraduate students are compliant with the required New Student Employee Orientation.

13) Host bimonthly New Student Employee Orientation sessions.

14) Summarize and present information at knowledge-sharing meetings with team and ESA staff.

15) As needed, attend meetings and deliver presentations to a wide array of audiences, both internal and external.

16) Develop, organize, and lead professional development programs for students seeking internships/careers.

17) Collaborate with colleagues to create and administer targeted programming to make students successful in their job/internship searches.

18) Support the advancement of College Admissions initiatives.

19) Host campus training sessions and workshops for student supervisors and HR Partners.

20) Support Jeff Metcalf Program’s continued growth and create meaningful experiences for undergraduates.

21) Programming also includes working with colleagues to develop and update supplemental materials for programs.

22) General administrative and programming responsibilities including, but not limited to, committee membership, meetings with colleagues, participating in all-hands-on-deck programs and other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
