The Hollywood Internship Program is a summer study and work opportunity that provides a great way to apply classroom learning to the specific career goals of interest to select Communication students. It also serves as an industry immersion experience. Interns benefit from gaining practical skills in state-of-the-art technical facilities and are exposed to the expertise of renown producers, directors, screenwriters, cinematographers and agents. The Program Facilitator facilitates the Hollywood Media Internship program, which places approximately 20 students in internship positions in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles. These internships take place in companies doing business in the most competitive arena in the world ? the entertainment industry. Duties include assessing intern placement according to their needs and desires; contacting and following up with companies to place interns; meeting with interns; soliciting lecture series speakers; leading course seminars; administering and grading tests; meeting with the Hollywood Internship Lecturer to discuss how to improve the experience for interns. Responsibilities also include but are not limited to: maintaining strong relationships with the Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences and other companies to secure internships for UNC students; spearheading fund-raising and public relations activities for the program; identifying, planning and organizing networking opportunities for our students; serving as contract liaison between legal departments of the University and the Academy; preparing students for success and monitoring their progress in the internship program; coordinating program timeline with the University and the Academy; managing intern placement with industry professionals; arranging seminars, lectures and live television show tapings for students in Los Angeles. Position incumbent will also manage a weekly lecture series and serve as alternate host lecturer. This is a part-time position of 20 hours per week with occasional evening and weekend work and possible holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will have earned a Master of Arts, Film Directing and/or Communications degree.Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required; Candidates who hold a Masters in an unrelated discipline must have at least four years of experience in directing, writing and producing.
